Sam’s background includes starting and running his own small business coupled with experience in investment banking and mergers and acquisitions. As a freshman, Sam worked for a Grand Rapids based firm, Calder Capital, where he aided in extensive financial analysis and valuation, deal flow, industry and company specific research as well as marketing material creation and client interfacing. While at Calder, Sam redesigned the firm’s client and prospect tracking system in addition to improving CRM marketing campaigns, resulting in a higher client retention rate and a vastly more efficient prospect pipeline. During the same time period, Sam also created and helped implement a new service offering that not only boosted sales but attracted and retained clients in a subscription-based service model. Furthermore, Sam developed a branding initiative that improved the firm’s brand awareness, press coverage and marketing.
Sam is a Grand Rapids native who has a passion for entrepreneurship and building relationships. He brings energy, enthusiasm, quick and creative thinking as well as a desire to learn and get things done.
