About Kajal
Kajal Modi plans to major in Computer Science with a minor in Business. In high school, she was in the STEM Computer Science field where she toke multiple coding classes that ignited a profound interest in the world of computing.
She was involved in multiple clubs throughout high school such as the National Honors Society and Link Crew. Beyond these clubs, she actively contributed to her school’s Congress, where she collaborated with students to organize an event called Senior Prom which was a fun, entertaining night, especially for seniors at the nursing home. Every year, Kajal participated in the Indian American Student Association dance show, embracing various dance forms and celebrating her cultural heritage. She was an avid member of the Girls explore together information technology club (GET-IT). As one of the co-presidents in her senior year, she led and helped plan the weekly Friday meetings. She strived to foster an encouraging, welcoming environment for girls passionate about the vast realm of tech opportunities.
Her biggest achievement is winning 2nd place in the Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) Web Design competition in 2021. She constructed a website from scratch utilizing HTML and CSS responding to the prompt, “Who is your inspirational woman?”
Beyond her academic endeavors, she owns a small business called Kajal’s Henna Art. Her passion for henna, a temporary tattoo, and with the support of her family she started her business in 2021. Looking ahead, she aspires to continue nurturing her passions throughout her collegiate journey.
What does this scholarship mean to Kajal?
"This scholarship holds immense significance for me and my parents. Financially, it eases the burden of tuition and allows me to focus more on my studies and personal growth. I am truly grateful and honored to receive this aid. This scholarship symbolizes recognition of my dedication to education at MSU and I hope to contribute positively to my community.
